Teaching-related Initiatives
Members of the DiSC contribute to projects aimed at furthering the digital and social transformation at Austrian higher education institutions funded by the Federal Ministry for Education, Science and Research (BMBWF). This brochure (in German) provides more detailed information and can be downloaded from the BMBWF's webpage. The University of Innsbruck collaborates with other universities in the following teaching-related projects:
- CodeAbility Austria - Goal: high-quality education in programming for students as well as pupils and professionals.
- eInformatics@Austria - Goal: free MOOCs providing basic knowledge in computer science designed in a compelling way.
Some of our members offer courses and give presentations aimed at a wider audience, too - both inside and outside the university context. Examples are workshops for the city's summer program for children and adolescents, schools, or adult education centers (VHS):
- Sébastien Court can be booked for a school workshop on Conway's Game of Life which targets pupils aged 14 to 19. For more information, see the centrally administered list of workshops offered by the university and search for "Das Spiel des Lebens".
- DiSC members, such as Justus Piater, Joanna Chimiak-Opoka, Alexander Kupfer, Sébastien Court, Matthias Schurz, and Carina König regularly provide insights into a career in STEM during the Sommertechnikum MINT which is aimed at potential female students.
- Subject to availability, the following workshops are on offer as part of the summer program of the Kinder-Sommer-Uni (kids' university), which is organized jointly by the University of Innsbruck and the City of Innsbruck:
- Workshop on digital platforms for adolescents (age: 14-17 years) hosted by Alexander Kupfer and Matthias Schurz
- Workshop for children (age: 9-12 years) on energy-efficient houses hosted by Joanna Chimiak-Opoka and Gabriel Rojas-Kopeinig

Joanna Chimiak-Opoka taught the course Computer Languages vs. Natural Languages at the University of Innsbruck's Language Center.
